Inspection Search
THETIS is the European Maritime Safety Agency’s public database of Port State Control inspections, letting anyone search the inspection history, detentions, and risk profile of individual seagoing ships calling at ports in the Paris MoU region.
It stores ship call information, calculates each ship’s risk profile daily, and manages the workflow from inspection to report and follow-up action, drawing on data such as ships’ particulars, certificates, port calls, and previous inspection reports.
For the general public — including passengers, cargo owners, researchers, journalists, or anyone curious about a specific vessel — a tool as been made available to check whether a ship has a clean track record or a history of deficiencies and detentions, adding a layer of transparency to maritime safety.
