2005 Annual Report "On course"
The Paris Memorandum is heading on a safe course to its next destination: the introduction of the New Inspection Regime. While detentions in the region are at an all time low, which is a positive development, the New Inspection Regime will be designed to target the remaining sub-standard ships and, at the same time, it will give more credit to quality ships by extending the period between inspections. This course of action follows closely the decisions taken by Ministers responsible for maritime safety in Vancouver at the end of 2004.
